What We Offer

Malcolm A. Dill is a children’s author and educator from Beaumont, Texas who creates immersive educational experiences around his books. As the creator of the Marvin’s First Day series and founder of MAD Books, he designs interactive programs and workshops where stories come alive as students actively engage through movement and the arts.

His goal is simple: to turn every book into an experience that inspires kids to become lifelong readers!

MAD Books is an M/WBE-certified company that partners with schools, after-school programs, and other city agencies to deliver high-quality, literacy-based programming for youth.

  • Interactive author visits that bring stories to life and inspire a love of reading. Students engage in live read-alouds, discussions about the writing process, and age-appropriate creative activities connected to Malcolm’s books.

  • Extended creative writing experiences that guide students through the full storytelling process. Over multiple sessions, students develop original characters, explore narrative structure, and strengthen their writing through discussion, drafting, and revision. Workshops are differentiated by age and ability level and intentionally integrate social-emotional learning, voice, and self-expression to help students clearly communicate their ideas and experiences.

  • Project-based experiences that allow students to become published authors. Students write, revise, and illustrate original stories, culminating in professionally presented class books or individual publications. Programs often conclude with a celebratory publishing event that invites families and school communities to honor student work and reinforce pride, ownership, and confidence in writing.

  • MAD Books partners with local non-profits to bring free books and resources to underserved communities and books deserts.

  • MAD Books partners with literacy nonprofits and education companies to review curriculum, training materials, and program design—ensuring literacy products are engaging, effective, and usable in real classrooms and afterschool settings.
