Characters That C.A.N.™ is a 12- week storytelling and co-design course for aspiring writers. Youth are empowered to create original storybook characters and professionally illustrated books that address issues that affect them, their communities, and the greater world!
Young authors learn to:
Develop Relatable Storybook Characters
Write Compelling Manuscripts
Provide Creative Direction
Advocate for Their Communities
Care. Act. Narrate.
Become an Artist Mentor
Program Commitment
*Meet (virtually) with your assigned mentee periodically.
*Attend a 2 hour training.
*Create compelling illustrations based on mentee’s creative direction.
*Meet illustration milestones throughout the mentorship
*Format final artwork for print.
Compensation
Mentors are compensated for coaching sessions and artwork
Requirements
*Must own a computer
*Must have reliable internet
*Must be able to attend a 2 hour training.
*Provide a portfolio of illustrative work.
